Abstract

Objectives: In order to define a program of prevention and reduction of the risks to health workers and patients, a cognitive investigation was conduced to estimate the microclimatic and microbiological conditions in 25 operating theatres.
Methods: Microclimatic parameters was measured and elaborated using a computerized system connected to sensories group; microbial contamination was measured using an apparatus to active aspiration.
Results: From the micro climatic point of sight, in 24 operating theatres were found conditions of termic comfort wile, in the other, the indexes of termic comfort showed a condition of stress. The microbial count resulted particularly elevated in all the operating theatres; it was showed pathogenics microrganism presence.
Conclusions: The global analysis shows many deficiencies determinated probably by a permissive management of the operating theatres which causes a excessive frequentation and a lacking upkeep.
