Abstract
The research start by a project centred on Praetorium of Muru de Bangius – Sardinia, to facing the problem of identification of such tipologies of cursus publicus infrastructures.
By the first four categories of praetoria scholars had studies - and obviously are studying today - emperor’s residence, legion commander’s residence in the fort, temporary residence of province governor or villa in fundi rustici, the research looked for the type which corresponded at the third category, founding traces of the existence of several buildings with such characteristic.
In fact, we can find this kind of buildings included in towns, in the suburb or far from them in the same measure because the cursus publicus ran in open fields and through the urban centres.
Actually only the epigraph data associated with architectural remains can confirm the identification of with a praetorium. This is the case of Muru de Bangius praetorium in Sardinia and of Colonia Iulia Diensis praetorium in Macedonia.
