Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, Vol. 35 (8), p. 992-1000. eISSN 1573-8353. Article. Full text not available from this repository. DOI: 10.1007/BF02252169 AbstractReaction of Pd(OAc)2 with HL I and HL 2 (HLl=6-iso-propyl-2,2"bipyridine; HL2=6-neo-pentyl-2,2 '- bipyridine), followed by treatment with LiCl or KI, gives [PdCI(L')]2, (1), [PdCI(L2)]2 (2), and [PdI(L2)]2 (3), respectively. The chloride bridge in complexes 1 and 2 is split by PPh 3 to give the mononuclear species PdCI(L I)(PPh3) (4) and PdCI(L2)(PPh3) (5). Spectroscopic data provide evidence for coordination of the deprotonated ligands through a nitrogen and the C(3) atom of the 6-substituted pyridine. An analogous platinum complex PtCI(L3)(SMe2) (6) (HL3=6-tert-butyl-2,2"bipyridine) was obtained from trans-PtCIMe(SMe2)2 and HL 3. The ctystal structures of compounds 1 and 6 have been solved by X-ray diffraction analysis.
