Curini Galletti, Marco and Mura, Francesco (1998) Two new species of the genus Monocelis ehrenberg, 1831 (Platyhelminthes: Proseriata) from the Mediterranean, with a redescription of Monocelis lineata (O. F. Müller, 1774). Italian Journal of Zoology, Vol. 65 (2), p. 207-217. eISSN 1748-5851. Article. Full text not available from this repository. DOI: 10.1080/11250009809386748 AbstractTwo new Monocelis species from the Mediterranean are described. Monocelis parvula n. sp. is characterized by small size, absence of bursa and vagina, and by a karyotype with n = 3 with one chromosome pair almost twice the size of the others. Monocelis mediterranea n. sp. is characterized by the morphology of bursa and bursal duct. It is the only Monocelis known with a karyotype with n = 4. Monocelis lineata (O. F. Mller, 1774) is re-described, and conspecificity of N. Atlantic and Mediterranean specimens is confirmed on morphological and karyological grounds.
