Abstract

Treatment of 6,6′-dimethoxy-2,2′-bipyridine (bipy^2OMe) with gold(III) acetate results in the exclusive formation of a cyclometalated gold(III) derivative arising from activation of the C(3)−H bond of a pyridine ring.
