Abstract
Aim: Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) has been proposed to
designate an early, but abnormal state of cognitive impairment.
Various clinical subtypes of MCI ave been described:
a-MCI (amnesic)
md-MCI (more cognitive functions are impaired)
md-MCI + a ( more cognitive functions are impaired +
memory)
md-MCI – a ( more cognitive functions are impaired - memory)
MCI with an isolated cognitive function impairment different of
Memory.
Methods: We assessed a group of 60 individuals who reported
mild cognitive disorders. A set of standardized tests was
employed for psychometric assessment. The patients also
underwent haematic and neuroimaging tests, as advised by the
dementia diagnosis guidelines.
Results: for 31.6% the psychometric assessment result normal.
68.3 % were diagnosed with MCI: 53 % a-MCI, 7,3% MCI with
an isolated cognitive function impairment different of memory,
7.3% md-MCI – a and 31.6% md-MCI + a.
Conclusions: memory impairment is the most frequently
cognitive deficit found in the examinated patients, which can be
isolated or associated to more cognitive functions impairment.
