Abstract
The objective of this research is to identify the relationship between television programs and support for parenting, nowadays in Italy. An educational activity, offered by certain types of programs, could be a support for parents.
“S.O.S. Nanny” and “ Family Diary” are the two Italian programs surveyed for this educational research. Both broadcast on several television seasons
The first was aired by the private channel “La 7”, and the second one from “Rai 3”, which still retains the character of a public service.
They are two Eduentertainment programs for adults, analyzed in their structures, processes and functions. They make possible and visible to the expert, but especially to the parents, the dialogue between the communicative aspect and the educational, two reports, on which, the programs are structured and which also meet certain logics of television production.
From an operational standpoint the analysis is divided into two phases:
1) In the “Desk Phase” the two programs are reviewed in their contents (family problems and educational intervention) and in the communication process from their activities, through a semiotic , textual and educational methodology;
2) The “File Phase” involves a careful examination of a series of interviews on a sample of 20 mothers, who benefit from this educational service, which aimed to assess the possibility that
“S.O.S. Nanny” and “Family Diary” can be two valid educational resources for parenting.
