Abstract

The thesis concern the building of a model for the study of positional local élites. The research begins looking forward classifications and definitions of ruling class, starting on classical authors of elites theory, polyarchy and social stratification. Found a possible, handy definition, the model is shaped on it, and has brought as a first result a list of 96 names of relevant leading position of policy elite in the town of Sassari. Subsequently the model has been tested on a relevant number of interviews carried on by the researcher, proposing as main theme the professional and educational career of the positional elite. The comparison has been done using a similar field research carried on in the same town in 1968.
