AbstractIn this paper are reported the results of a research on the rooting behaviour of olive semi-hardwood cuttings sampled from 4 local varieties co1tivated in Sardinia as table olive varieties («Bianca di Villacidro», « Pizz'e carroga », « Olia manna », and «Sivigliana da confetto»). Among the above mentioned varieties several clones were isolated, and from each clone 100 cuttings were sampled, treated with IBA at 4.000 p.p.m., and submitted to mist in a greenhouse bed. Observations made 40 days after the sampling evidenced in all the varieties the callus formation at the base of the cuttings, while 70 days after the sampling the rooting percentages resulted 34% for «Bianca di Villacidro », 36% for « Pizz'e carroga », and 37% for «Olia manna» and «Sivigliana da confetto». Among a single variety different rooting ability was observed in the different clones. Particularly in «Bianca di Villacidro », and « Pizz'e carroga » varieties the greatest rooting percentages were found in medium vigorous clones, while in «Olia manna») medium and highles vigorous clones gave the best rooting percentage.
