Boundary development is the result of long and often harsh confrontation between pastoral mountain villages and lowland peasants for access to resources. Against this background, market cycles have marked the alternating phases of the pastoral and farming economies, while the Government struggled for control and for a political-administrative division of land that would put an end to feudalism.
