DOI: 10.1016/j.ympev.2008.12.011 AbstractThe Tyrrhenian island of Sardinia is known for its high level of endemism. Beside the importance of this island as a refuge during the last glaciations, little is known about the origin and relationships of Sardinian species. Therefore, in an effort to resolve these relationships, in the current study we extended the existing dataset considerably by adding two nuclear genes and additional mitochondrial sequence data, as well as greatly extend the number of Sardinian populations represented in the dataset from eight to 16 populations.
